I rebuilt my front diff last night (bought it separately from the kit) and it had the delrin pulley. However, the thrust washer was a silver color, and was all smashed up and destroyed, hence the need for a rebuild. The one that came in the rebuild kit was the brass-colored one with larger balls. I still don't think that diff turns as nicely as the rear, despite the rebuild. The only thing I haven't replaced is the two bearings (which seemed to be fine, I tested them for a while) and the pulley. The action on that diff is... inconsistent, which seems to be consistent with a warped pulley. I can see the wobble while it's spinning.

I'm certainly not questioning the quality of the parts or anything, these things happen. It's likely I just overtightened it or something.

the diff action could be inconsistant because of a bent diff ring. everytime i rebuild the diffs i sand the diff rings with 200 then 400 then 600 grit sand paper, to make them smooth and to get rid of the existing track from the previous diff balls and i also replace the balls. im cheap and just run the steel balls

Brandon - Arv tells me you guys had a great time. I wish I could have made it, however I was still up at 5:30am building the car. LOL Arv and I will be back very soon though.

Jeff - I'll call you on Monday to get a few more goodies.

Congrats to Chris for putting the best car in the TQ position and to all the other Corally guys.

Unrath- Yeah, cool track, we may come up again sometime end of April, it's 5 hrs for me from Charlotte . Was able to TQ mod, then a bit of contact with McDaniels (not his fault, just close racing through tight section) and I couldn't catch him after that. Debbies said they will run throughout the summer, so it's a great place to get some Vegas practice for those going. Good luck at Mimi's in two weeks.

I have a question about diffs also...

I am having to rebuild them after about 6 packs in 19t and stk. I am building them with AE lube and AE black grease on the thrust. I have the Brass thrust also. I am only tightening them down until I can just not turn the pulley over tehn backing off about 1/8th of a turn. Seems like I read somewhere that you could remove 1 or 2 of the cone washers to help but I can't find where I read that now.

Any ideas would be very helpful.

BTW Congrats to Team Corally and TOSO on the win. I am glad I have my kit in hand, they will be even harder to find now, than they were after the 'Birds!

I'm also having a problem with my diff..at least i think it's the diff. When I'm driving and I turn and apply power, i hear a clicking noise from the front diff..can't seem to tell where it's coming from. any advice? thanks! and congrats to corally!!

kabttu,

That noise is most likely coming from your rim hitting your spring perch. Turn down your steering throw till you don't hear it anymore.
