Yea... the new car better have something other than the 2.4 chassis with the stiffening plate on it for foam/carpet racing. I'm making an olympic sprint back to the 4mm, that was a miserable experiment.

Which chassis sizes did you experiment with and what conclusions did you come up with?

I'm no pro, so I guess my opinion shouldn't be conclusive by any means, but I tried the "competition spec" chassis (2.4mm) with the stiffening plate, and it was awful on the carpet with foam tires compared to the 2.9 and 3.9 I've used previously. I had hoped it would be stiff enough with the plate, but I'm skeptical.

I'm going to turn this RDX into an asphalt car for the summer, so the chassis will still go to good use. Not sure what car I'll be using on the carpet, though.

Ooh, sorry, I didn't mean that like I'm being a naysayer about the RDX or the new car, I LOVE my current car, and I'm confident the next one will end up dialed on carpet, one way or the other. No more angst from me, I left that behind long ago. :-)

Have two cars. Use the RDX for carpet and get a PHI for asphalt. Then you won't have to change setups from carpet to asphalt with your RDX. Plus, it will be less wear using one car for both surfaces. Since both cars will need electronics whichever car isn't being used can be your backup electronics\parts car. Just my $.02.

Actually, those $.02 will wind up costing about 80,000+ cents.

i made my own center steering set-up using the thick top deck and making an adapter that has the center mount. this makes the belt clearance not an issue and then i made extensions coming off of the steering knuckle so you can have the angle that the links need and the car is amazing. i was just trying it out to see if i liked the center mount before i went out and bought one and i love the set-up that i made. the car has the most steering and corner speed that it has ever had. just letting you guys know.
