Now we know why the TA05v2 Gallardo doesnt come with LEDs
So Tamiya kinda ticked me off this time. On the website it states the TA05 Gallardo can use LEDs, the kit comes with masking for the lights and the instructions has details for mounting and wiring the LEDS yet no buckets! The only place in the world I've been able to find the LED buckets is by buying the TT01 Gallardo body.
This German site had them but they have now been discontinued.

And I finally figured out why Tamiya Discontinued the use of them. 18 LEDs required for the Gallardo.
Per Tower Pricing:
You would need 2 TLU-01 light units $48.99
1 set of 3 mm Tamiya LEDs $10.29
7 sets of 3mm Red Tamiya LEDS $72.03
Total $180.30 just to light up the Tamiya Gallardo body using Tamiya parts. Thats more than the car itself.
You can of course use knockoff china controllers and LEDs, but even then you'd need $40 in controllers and $30 in LEDS.
Now we know why Tamiya is discontinuing the use of the LEDs in the Gallardo. I love lights on my models for the scale factor but I'll be passing on this one.
Someone in the design department got a little too scale, wonder if he got canned. This may be a repost and old news but I found it annoying and then funny

Only way to do it would be to buy an older TT01 Gallardo body. I'm not even sure they include the buckets in those either.
Thats more money in lighting than most would want to spend so I'm sure Tamiya cut it.
