I searched for this but didn't come up with anything.

I want to dye my Jaco "Prism" wheels something other than white.
We run Jaco Blues as a spec tire, everyone having the same white wheels looks a little boring after a while.
Some guys give the wheels the Sharpie treatment, but always looks poor.
Thought about painting the wheels but will the paint just chip off?

I was inspecting the Jaco wheels and they look porous enough to be able to take dye. Im concerned that dying the wheels could damage the rubber or the foam inside.
Normally I would boil the parts I wanted dyed but I think the heat would hurt the tire. Im pretty sure a good soak in out of the tap hot water would also do the trick.

Im sure dying the wheels black would be easy, but I want to try and find a fluorescent yellow to match my paint job and off road wheels.
Does any one know of and have experience with using any Flo dyes?

Hope some one out there has tried this.

boiling the tires will likey make the tires fall off, some people use this to put new tires on old rims. Painting would be your best best, just mask around the tires.

I have dyed white Parma and Jaco wheels in the past with great results. I use Rit fabric dye and have used black, blue and sun burst orange. I have not found any flouresent colors. I have had no problems with foams coming unglued from the rims. It only takes a few minutes in the water and its not a hard boil. So just pick you colors and boil away!!

I forgot about the CA losing its bond with hot water.

I searched Google for any fluorescent dyes, and there doesnt seem to be any available.

So I guess I will try out some Tamiya model paint, just hope it doesnt chip too bad.

just have some vinyl wheel dots made ,you can do any color you choose, sign shops or some hobby guy's,painters,etc.. have vinyl cutters

Have you actually done this with the hotwater? The only thing that reliably removes the foam is a good soak in acetone. Let sit in the jar for about 24 hours, and the foam will slide right off.

Don't they make jaco blues with a black rim?

Dying the whole wheel/tire doesn't work well lol the tire and insert will get weird

You can dye wheels with foam tires attached, but not with rubber tires attached. I use to dye my wheels when I ran foams all the time, boil with rit dye, no problems ever. I will guarantee you can't do it with rubber tires tho, it will ruin the glue bond and the insert.

I don't think so, but Speedworld sold the SJ-R (Sorex tires) on black Prism wheels.
