Gearing for an Evo IV

I just got a Tamiya TB Evo IV with a GT7 esc, matched Fusion GP3300 cells and an Orion Revolution V2 12x1 motor. I was wondering if anyone has used the V2's and what they think of them and also if they can offer some gearing advise.

Cheers

5.7 to 6.0 should work with a V2 12x1.

You should start gearing at about 7.8 to 1 ratio and adjust from there based on your track size. A ratio of 6 or less would most probably fry your motor.

that would kill the motor in no time.
id recommend starting at about 7. something to start with.

Depends on the track. If it is a huge track that sort of gearing would work. I've run an 8x1 V2 at 4.5 on an oval track and the motor looked fine after a 4 min run.

Use about 2 teeth less on your pinion than with a normal 12x2. Gearing really depends on the track. Example : this week end at the BRCA nats, I can predict most people will go for a gearing about 6.2 on the V2's, because the halifax track has a 200m straight.

I drive on a large track, 19 s laps, so my recommendation was based on that. And the motor holds up great with that ratio, 10-15 runs before you have to do anything with it.
Of course, a smaller track needs a differant ratio.

At the Tamiya track or a track similar to the Nats track in Portland, I would start gearing a 12x1 somewhere between 7.1-7.5

stock gearing

what would you guys suggest for an evo 4 running a silver can in stock? I bought the 72t tamiya spur looking to run a 45 tooth pinion with it but there isnt enough adjustment in the motor mount to reach the spur, 72, 45 works really well on the evo 3, obviously not on the 4

thanks
