Trinity Chameleon 2 pro 19 turn problem

I bought a replacement Armature part # 2223 for the Trinity Chameleon 2 Pro part # RC2123 and when I replace the armature the motor turns in reverse.

I'm using the same brushes/springs/can and followed the directions exactly in the printout directions that was sent..

HELP!! I've asked some local racers and none of them knew what would cause this..

Well, one said it may be a stock armature instead of the pro version....

The first C2's that came out were Hemi wound (like a mod motor) the newest batch is a Mabuchi wrap...Like a stock motor. They are wound in opposite directions so the magnets are backwards from each other. If you look at the two arms you will see that the way one attaches to the Comm is different than the other. You just need the other type. Kinda hard to explain with out a picture

Looking at both of them and they appear the same.. The old one looks like it's directly attached to the comm while he new one looks like it's attached like a 27 turn like a piece of cardboard on the comm...

Nova,

I had this same problem with one I bought 5 weeks ago. I ran it twice, changed the brushes and cut the com. And it ran backwards.

Trinity told me to send it back and they would look at it and fix it or replace it.

If your in a pinch to run it just wire it backward or watever way you need to get it turning in the correct direction.

You cant run the wire backwards...then the timing would be retarded 24 degrees.

Can you take a pic of both arms where the wire attaches? Im sure that one is hemi wound and one is mabuchi wound. The hemi wind comes off of one stack right up to the tab and directly back down. The mabuchi wind will come off of one side of the stack, go across to the tab and then back across the other stack. Kinda a X patern.

If you can, cut off the tab on the endbell then you can re-assemble it backwards and the timing will be correct. Now that the new arms are wound reverse of the old ones, all of us at my track have had to cut the endbells that way.

OK, it's getting weird looking at these under a mag glass....
the "top" of the new armature ( and the unopenned one ) are about 10 mm from the comm..
the orginal one is 7mm...

overall length : old 67mm new 70.5 mm

The wire wrapping looks the same on both... I'll get a pictue tomorrow if I can....

I just rezap my magnets backwards... reverse the polarity... they run fine... I first ran into this a few weeks ago. I thought I had mistakenly zapped my can backwards. Its real nice for them to change arms with out telling.
Eric is there a performance advantage to either arm?

I know why it runs backwards. This Expert 19T guy runs at my local track had this problem. What it is, is that the armature is different than the one that came with the motor. Its wired differently than the other armature. You cant change it. Now you cant use that armature with that motor your trying to use. You have to try a different armature that works with that endbell.

Yes Zapping the magnet backwards will work too if you got a good enough zapper!!

The older style arms, Hemi wound, have less wire and are a little faster. But the newer style, mabuchi wrap, have a little more torque. I have one that is only around 85 watts but its the fastest 19 turn I have ever ran in my TC...I get accused of cheating everytime I run it!!!
