Default Traxxas Electric 4-Tec Front and Read Diff's - Need Help

I have had this car for years, blew the dust off of it. I was going over the car and both differentials are gone. the drive-train doesn't bite to propel the car, nor do the wheels spin against each other when you physically turn one of the wheels. Being that the car is old, before I tear down the diff's to see whats wrong, anybody have any luck using other diffs in place of OEM? My research has come up with the parts no longer available. I would like to see If i can get it up and running, any help would be appreciated.
