Tuning my Jada Toys Rx-8
I bought a Jada Toys Rx-8 a few days ago and have already bought a new battery pack and servo and installed it. I am wondering what kind of motor to get, any suggestions are welcome.:)

Hi -
Maybe if you took pictures of the car close up or have a pic of an exploded view, the techies could give you some ideas! Being able to change the servo is a good start... If it looks close to a regular "hobby grade" car, then your imagination would be the only limitation - oh yeah, and money too.... Dave |

Yeah, I think it's a toy, but you never know what you can do to it! Sounds like a fun and enjoyable project.
Most of us probably enjoy making something work rather than bolting it on, that's where a lot of the fun is! Best of luck, let us know how it goes! Dave |
I'm surprised no one has started chuckling yet
Oh well, good luck with your new car... if you like playing it alot, I suggest saving up to prepare for this hobby in earnest. :) |
I'm looking at getting a X-mod rc car from Radio Shack. That is a cool toy to have. Especially if you win their race, you get a real car.
|
I decided to order an Associated KR 7t Double Modified Motor from tower hobbies for $59, I'm waiting for it to get here.

got any pictures??? never heard of that car before........

Maybe you should try a stock motor first - it may be better in that kind of car - don't want to overpower it. Is the stock motor a 540 size? If so, the possibilities open up!

180 sized motors in those things. probably a pressed on pinion that wont fit a 540. i think it's a lot of hassle to fix this thing up than it is to go with a RTR TC3 or similar hobby grade kit. If you really bought a 7t mod, i hope you're gutting the thing and putting in a proper speed control and receiver if you can even get the motor to fit at all.

that kr motor will have fun frying your car.:weird:

Does it have the boost button
LOL |
Thanks For The Info AWOLsoldier, I will probably buy a TC3 or HPi Pro 4. I will probably save the motor for one of those two cars once I buy one of them. Anyways, what kind of speed control do you recommend for this motor?:)
