I just went back and reread some of your posts. are you still using a tamiya spur? If so are you using a tamiya pinion? Tamiya uses a metric pitch to their gears. if you use a standard pinion and a metric spur they will mesh together but it will bind and sound like hell

On the very early gear diffs from 3 Racing there was an issue with the pitch of the teeth on the gear diff actually being wrong. That is why they issued a Ver 2 gear diff.
With the original diff you would actually see the belt rise and fall in the gear diff as the belt didnt mesh with the gear. This made an unusual sound as well. Maybe you have one of the original gear diffs

Thanks, I'll check that out and see if that may be the problem, I believe that they are v2 gear diffs as they came out of my new Zero S kit. Dean said that he had a spare ball diff for the rear that I could try, and I have a spool diff for the front, so when I speak to him next I'll ask him to put them in and try it out.
As I said before I'm not going criticize the car too much, but I am very dissapointed with it because of this issue that is plaguing me, which I shouldn't have to do with a virtually brand new car. Sure, every new car may have an issue or 2 but they are usually easily spotted & rectified.
Anyway, hoping to be able to report some good news on Friday, just also ordered some new parts for the old tamiya to keep it going if the need arisis.

Touch a finger to the motor and cout 1001,1002 your okay. If it comes out 1001, OHHH $%#* then the motor is running to hot. Not trying to be a smartass here this actually works. If you can keep your finger on it for a count of a least three seconds the temp on average is around 150* The shorter the count the hoter the motor, but as stated earlier the best way is a good cheap temp sensor.

Another update on my Sakura Zero saga...
Gave the car to my friend who originally gave me all the cf & alloy parts.
After several days I was informed by him that he had a bald spot on the side of his head from tearing his hair out over the problem. Even after 3 total strip down & rebuilds the problem continued to exist.
After some brain storming the both of us concluded that there could be a tweak in the lower cf deck. My friend generously then gave me a 75% built new Sakura Zero with a brand new lower cf deck.
Just finished building the remaining components and installed the electrics. Initial testing with new gears & a recently re built motor with ceramic bearings seem promising, but won't know until I give the car a run outside.
I'll more than likely wait until racing tomorrow as the concrete area's around where I live are dusty and have lots of small stones (bad for gears & bearings).
So one would hope that my previous problems will not continue with what basically is a brand new car.
