I changed to the vertical motor mount and as a result had to switch the belts side to side and diffs. However now I cannot use the battery holders on the inside or the belt touches them.

How is everyone else handling this?

When you install the 19t pulley and a different spur gear, do you need the part SAK-06 or is it ok as it is. I've just received the other parts I ordered to do the build but I didn't get that bit.

  • SAK-58PK Belt tensioner (optional)
  • SAK-14 - chassis down stop protection plate
  • SAK-S16/WO Graphite Upper Deck (or modify the stock one)
  • AE 40 wt shock oil (all 4 shocks)

If you want a front spool, you need to purchase three separate items to assemble one.

  • SAK-08/PK - Front Solid Axle
Thanks

You have to do some grinding with a Dremel tool. Go back through this thread and look for my posts with pictures to show what I did.

The SAK-06 only gives you a pair of thicker pick spacers and I didn't buy this part. I used a few Tamiya shims to adjust the play at the spur and it worked fine.

You can also use the extra spacers you got left from the gear diff. These are the perfect size

Most seem to go to battery tape. You can still use the outer L brackets, but you need to come up with something to keep the battery from rubbing on the belt. I was running VTA (and thus had to add weight) and the center weight kit has horizontal threaded holes to run a bolt through that allows you to keep the battery pushed out. You can also dremel the existing mounts, or fabricate something else to go on the inside.

The outer battery tray guides don't need to be touched. The inners will need some alterations but nothing too difficult. I used a plastic servo mount with a bolt to maintain the battery position. See my pics.

The "foot" from the old motor mount also can be used to keep the battery away from the belt.

I tried the sway bars and didn't like the way the car reacted and took them off. Not needed in my opinion.

I agree with you a lot but I have to disagree here. They are a more advanced tuning tool so I highly recommend to learn the rest of the car first but they are necessary to push the car to its full potential. If I didn't use them I wouldn't be on the podium. Learn the car and grow the driving skill then add them to maximize your tuning options. If you don't know the car then you will never know how to use them or feel the changes they make but they work extremely well.

My advice WRT the Sakura is based entirely on the 17.5 blinky class. I have not yet run my sedan in any other class. The sway bars might prove a useful tuning aid for the open mod class but for now I'm fine without them.
