Gave the new metal outdrives a run last night. Usually have broken one of the Sak-09 on the pipes and/or wall, we run indoor on carpet in a local sports centre.

Ran the SAK-09HD - initially sounded really noisy and didnt feel smooth in the corners. A bit of AW grease solved that problem. When i got home pulled out the spool, and examined the parts. The inside edge appeared rough in its finish, so a bit of wet/dry and they are nice and smooth and work great.
Best of all, no breakages

What surface is recommend, for the tires that come with the kit.

I'd assume the kit tires would make reasonable pavement carpark type basher tires. For competitive use you may want to look at a racing slick style or if VTA the HPI VTA tire.

Further to that when you VTA guys run the 200mm bodies on the zero s do you do anything to increase the track other than fitting the HPI or similar wheels 26mm/31mm wheels and tires front and rear?

I ran the kit tires indoors on a carpet track and they worked surprisingly well. I normally run Sorex 24R or 28R slicks indoors.

No track modifications are needed. I ran a lot of different vta bodies with and they all fit fine with the 26/31 tire combination. My usgt Corvette doesn't quite fill out the rear wheel wells with a 26mm tire in the rear but it still looks fine.

my local track is asphalt, mid-high grip, not knowing if my track will eat the kit tires up...if I want to replace them, would HPI 26mm wheels with super compound tires work with this kit...3mm offset in front, and 6mm offset for rear!

Should work but I would keep the offset the same for 17.5. Check with the track though. A lot of places run a spec tire. If not look at the sweep 36 tires for warm temperatures and the sweep 32 for cooler temps. Solaris hard and medium compounds would work well too. Hard when it is hot out and medium when it is cool.
