Set-up Board Ideas

What are you guys using for set-up boards? Any homemade set-ups? Thanks

My local walmart sells glass cutting boards with a smooth side and a textured side. It has rubber corner protectors and is pretty big. They even make a smaller one if you like. I think it is like 13 dollars.

I use the integy board, it has the bubble level in the middle of the board. Makes life easy.

$1.00 Menard's or other Home Depot ect........scrap counter top pieces. Just knock off edges and you are set.

Wal Mart large glass cutting board with the Integy sticker on it and Yeah Racing set up tools. Not as good as user friendly as the Hudy tools, but all told less than $40 invested

I went to Lowes and got a 24"x24" ceramic tile for about 8 bucks

I'd like to get a piece of granite scrap from a counter top shop. Most likely from a kitchen counter top when they cut out the hole for the kitchen sink. I know granite is expensive, but what do they do with those cutouts?

I currently have a glass cutting board, but wanted to find something less fragile. MDF is cheap, but swells up and disintegrates when exposed to water. The acrylic ones look nice, but don't they get scratched easily, making it difficult to see the etched part underneath?

At the shop I worked at we glued rubber feet to the bottom and gave them to the customer as a matching cutting board.

I would not rely on the standard circle spirit level.

Try this, get your integy board centered with the standard circle spirit level.

Then get a normal spirit level, face it N-S, then W-E, and you will see how far out it is.

surprised me too:eek:

Hudy setup board. Every other cheaper option I looked at was never perfectly flat, some were near enough but the board on it's own isn't that expensive and is plenty durable enough to last year's or wrenching abuse.

Brandon can put whatever you want on the board. It is engraved on the bottom of the board so the top is still smooth!:)
