yes and no ... generally no difference
but some people say there is cause thers less rotating mass

i found out that if i use a smaller gear to get the same ratio the car accelerates FASTER

I am now using a TB Evo I and cant figure out why my spur and pinion keeps getting busted. On races I notice the rest of the guys dont get small stones on the track of their 04's and 414's. It really bothers me when I hear the sound of a busted spur. I have tried different ways of meshing it properly but still happens.

Try to drive on the clean parts of the track. I know when I get into the dusty, dirty areas, the spur on my 04 gets messed up. If I stay on the clean parts of the track, however, my gears can last a long time. One 'excursion' into the dirty areas is all it takes.

I went through a lot of spur gears on my EVO too, I think it is mostly due to the difficulty in getting a correct mesh. Really look close at you gear mesh.

Default Spur problem

I tried running my evolution 2 hours ago and evrything seems fine. I used a 88t spur with a 36 tooth pinion all brand new in a medium size indoor asphalt track. Maybe it was just pure bad luck on meshing or getting those tiny dirt into the spur. I ranned at least 5 batteries and everything was alright. A fiend of mine told me to put protective lexan plastic on top of the spur mounted on double sided tape. Hmmm...I will give ot a try and let you guys know if it works.

Humm.... for all the races that I ran I only have one spur gear worn-out. I think what happened you guys who busted their spur is really just pure bad luck.

One thing though, try not to run the car on the street where loose small rocks are everywhere. that will just incearse you chance of busting it.

I run my cars at indoor track, and outdoor paved parking lot, and so far only one spur gear worn out which is due to one-time bad gear mesh.
