New to the scene after a few years absent.

I am still learning about lipos.....

I am either going to get a set of venom 7.4 5000mah 50c

or IP (intellect) 7.4 5000mah 50c

Which one are better?

Which one do racers use?

Most of the packs are pretty close now. Choose the one that fits your budget and has the type of connector you prefer. Balance them occasionally, and pick up a decent LiPo compatible charger. Don't over charge nor discharge them and they should work out fine. Also, take a look at the ThunderPower packs, as those seem to be fairly popular with a lot of racers as well. I've never seen any on-road racers with the Venom packs, but see a ton of ThunderPower, SMC, and Intellect packs.

Lots of off-road guys like the Turnigy packs from China/Hong Kong, since they are so inexpensive comapred to the other brands, but I don't think that they are ROAR approved. I run the 35C 5200 mAh ones in my Slash Platinum, and they work great. Especially for $23 a pack.
