Default Brushless ESC for flywheel only?

Hi,

I'm working on a gyro project that uses flywheels at high RPM.

I've heard that RC car ESCs should be a better choice over heli ESC for starting torque, but I am not sure which one is the most suitable. Sites like HobbyKing have a hundred to choose from.

Do car ESCs do high RPM under no load? I'm looking for:
-torque start (dont care how slow it starts)
-high max rpm
-doesnt need a high amp rating

I have a helicopter ESC which runs the hard drive motor fast, but will not start with a heavy wheel attached.

Any advice on which ESC to get would be much appreciated.

Well I'm not too fussed about the exact weight of the flywheel, but I'm thinking the size will be about 500g, 5cm diameter.

You're probably going to want one with a bit more amp ability. The constant current might be low but that initial start-up can be brutal.

So how do I know which motors have an RC car suitable (some torque plz) startup? Every shopping site I browse just assumes you are looking for plane/heli ESC.
