A number of worst cars which were far from the worst in this thread. I will only comment on the FT TC4 which IMO was a great car and still the car I use today.

Even though it is a tad over weight it is still very fast and able to finish up the front.

"Tamiya Avante.
Engineering marvel(over engineered), but could not hold up to Kyosho's Optima series. "

It may sound strange but the more plastic Avante 2000 was a way better ride (I've had both) and the 2000 would run with the best of them. It's only flaw was the Ronco break-O-matic steering that came from the original.

Another great...Tamiya Road wizard. It had it's problems (Break-O-matic front again) but good lawd it was fast.

Tekin G1? The one with the numeral pad on top. Was revolutionary but the QC sucked.
The G1 was great! if that's if you knew how to program it, back in the "day" for dirt oval it was the way to go especially if you were using the "junk" panasonics, the sanyo 1700 SCE's were not any better..get them remotely hot and they were done..but I started racing in 1984 so pretty much I've seen every bad idea in RC....

Best:
First the RC10, then the JRX-2
Proper scale 200mm "super speedway" pan-cars
Sanyo being the sole supplier, and knowing which date codes were KILLER
Touring cars and racing on anything remotely flat
1/8 off-road: for making off-road BIG, literally

Worst:
Classes that vanish before their time
Tracks that don't make enough money to bother staying in business
Crazy hobby shop owners
Racers who forget this is just supposed to be fun

p.s.- Back in the 80's I built a RWD Custom Works Dominator (RC10 front suspension) for a local buggy based oval class. BANNED for being too fast and too expensive for the complainers to afford.

Sanyo 1700 SCRC (black cells) were the ones to beat. Then RC 2000 came out and I recall there was a new version of Sanyo 1700. The Black ones had higher capacity than sticker, and later Sanyo batteries barely met the capacity. I recall right around y2k, the Panasonic NiMH 3000mah came out and people complained about lack of punch and battery burning up.

Best:
companies who still offer unassembled kits at various levels for different types of drivers.

Worst:
RTR made people lazy
Losi bought by Horizon
AE bought by Thunder Tiger
seeing the same top 10 drivers almost at every race lol.

lol I agree on the TC5 shocks, first thing I did was throw TRF dampers on there.

Actually it was a 6 wheeled formula 1 car that was modeled after a real one. The Tyrrell chassis.

Stealth tranny was first introduced by MIP as an aftermarket upgrade.

The one with the number pad on top was the 410K. I had 2 of them and both ran great. Unfortunately toward the middle of the production of these was when the old Tekin started to have all kinds or QC and customer service problems. Thank goodness the new Tekin is an awesome company!

For me, the best and most revolutionary car of all time was the Prototype XXXS, twin deck, single belt, amazing to watch going round.
4 of them turned up to a UK national and got top 4 spots straight away.

I really do think they were close to perfection until a tub car appeared lmao

And worst? From my experiance,
the old Xpress touring cars and minis, they were proper sheds, poor fitment, high price, low quality lol
