It dissipates more heat by moving air over the motor, thus keeping it cooler.

i just saw it in a japaneese magazine that i once read. one of the guys at the track used a piece of lexan molded to guide the air towards the motor.

Ride makes some nice Air duct tunnels for the Shaft driven Cars
