Default Novak HV 4.5

Hi, I have a Novak HV 4.5 motor. The magnet has spun loose from the shaft. If I put it back with JB Weld will it hold? Thanks, Don

I know red loctite works. JB Weld should also work.

Red loctite- that's thinner then JB Weld. Thanks, maybe I'll use it instead. Don

If the magnet came loose from a binding in your gear train, or free revving your motor, re-attaching the magnet to the shaft may be OK.

If the magnet was overheated to the point of melting the epoxy, you probably de-magnetized the material and would be better off replacing the rotor.

The motor was mounted in a Kyosho Evolva. I got the motor from my LHS and it may have been returned to a wholesaler. The LHS does a lot of business with scratch and dent stuff. It (LHS) is located in Champaign,Il. I kept a close eye on temps in the car-the motor never went over 125. It mounts in the car with the motor mount/heat sink that is sold by Novak for that purpose. It wasn't free revved and the drive train is as free as most 1/8 road cars. When I got the motor, it was in exchange for the one that was in the sc/motor set I bought at the LHS. The original had a shaft cut down for a 1/8 id pinion. I did notice when I got it that there was a pinion set screw mark on the flat spot of the rotor. I can only hope it's ok. Don
