Tamiya TRF414M and BL motor Q's
 

Hey guys. New to this forum, but not new to world of hobby RC.

I was into RC hobby 7-8 years back, but soon gave it up. I came across my first R/C car, Tamiya TRF414M. I noticed new technologies brought into the RC world, which made the hobby less expensive IMO. Brushless motors (no brushes to replace or com cutting), NiMH was brought in (less memory effect), LiPo, etc...

I've been researching and found a best bang for your buck motor, the Hobbywing EZRun 60A ESC+motor combo. Hearing good praises so far, I think I would most likely buy it in the coming future. Thought I do have some questions...

There is a 5.5t and 8.5t versions. If I were to run the car for fun most of the time and maybe sometimes go on competitions in the future, which would be a good choice?

Is running such a high powered 5.5t motor ruin my belt drivetrain?

How bad is the low speed drivability on these sensorless motors? Got a demo?

Technically being brushless, there shouldn't be any maintenance? With the exception of lubing the bearings once in a while?

How much difference in terms of speed and run time between a 5.5t and 8.5t motor?

I will probably be getting a NiMH battery packs, as they are pretty good value for the money and not too picky about charging it. I will be probably getting a 3800-4000 mah battery. Will this be ok for my "for fun" setup? How long should the run time be, assuming maybe mid to full throttle?

Please feel free to point me to resources. Help out a noob. I would definitely appreciate it. :)

This Saturday I'll be racing my 414 in the 13.5T class (with a Hobbywing 60A ESC and boost).

There is a 5.5t and 8.5t versions. If I were to run the car for fun most of the time and maybe sometimes go on competitions in the future, which would be a good choice? Probably the 5.5T for MOD and 13.5T for Stock. Not sure where the 8.5T fits in competitions. BTW, I think for competition only sensored units are allowed. I might be wrong.
