anyone hacked a Sakura diff in a T3 already?
Yes, I ran one this weekend in stock ( 17.5 no "timing" ). The required modification is that you have to enlarge the Inside Dimension ( ID ) of the Sakura's out drives or the xray dog bones won't fit. And you *might* need to use 50mm dogs as well, 52mm might work but may bottom out ( just as they do with the Spec R gear diff ) , I just assumed the stock 52's wouldn't work and had the 50's on hand so I used them just to be sure. The diff seemed to work fine in stock, I however ran it in my 009 in mod with a 5.5 turn motor for a while and ultimately stripped it, so your mileage may vary !

btw, I also have modified a photon gear diff but need 4mm blades that will fit on the xray dog bones ( standard xray blades are 3.5 ). I've already tried the Robotronic Avid blades as they are 4mm but they use huge dog bone pins so the holes in the blades are way too large for the xray dogs pins.

Cheers,

Jake

2000 wt. I may try 1000 soon. I run the gear diff out of convenience mainly and since the 3racing Sakura gear diff is only $20 ish it is economical too Since we have so little time to test around here it is hard to gauge the difference. I've been told the gear diff has better forward traction. The regular gear diff weighs less though

p.s. The 3 racing Sakura diff feels pretty notchy until run in a bit.

strenght should be fine for me, i drift.

so you can just drop it in after the outdrive is enlarged a bit? no funny stuff with belts running misaligned or movement left to right?

sounds like i'll be ordering then.

I saw a cool idea for the servo. Use super thin carpet tape and the one post. The carpet double sided tape is real thin and strong.

Thanks Drew

I run the same deal, one post and servo tape, no issues with the car so far.

Honestly, don't know, new car seems more consistant, (that could be worn out parts though ), the steering does feel smoother, but more hassel to adjust. If you have the T3'10, since the 11 is on back order now, I'd work on setup with what you have and see what pans out in the next couple of weeks.

The 3r Sakura gear diff comes with shims to do an adequate job of centering it ( imho, worry more about the outdrives being equal than the belt being perfectly center on the pulley ).

oh, one little bit that is VERY important. I had to sand my xray 3.5mm blades so they slid easily in the Sakura out drives. If they don't slide easily they will bind up your suspension movement causing handling issues. When checking to see if you sanded enough of the blade be sure to rotate it through the entire motion because it will only bind when the blade is vertical !

Hopefully xray will have a nice light gear diff out soon
