We run blinky mode, 4 min races. It may be a bit more, but not much. 700 is just what sticks in my head. Definately no more than 100 though! Once I went an entire race night on one battery without charging it. Got pretty tired towards the end though!

700mAh does seem to be a little low for 4minutes, but not that far off from what I use. For a 5 minute 21.5 blinky race, I usually end up using around 1200-1300mAh and just over 1500mAh for 6 minute races, so for 4 minutes my 21.5 car would probably use around 1000mAh. Maybe just a little under. I know I can get just over 20minutes of run time from my 5000mAh batteries before they hit the cutoff (found this out during a recent 500 lap endurance race)

If I was a little more gentle on the trigger and/or if I needed to be marshalled a few times, I could see it only using 700-800 in 4 minutes.

Does this mean the the 'lipo position/setup' option of the chassis shoudnt be used??
the lipo needs to be bought back into the chassis because of the weight of these heavier lipos??
Cheers

My car balances fine with standard size electronics with a 289g battery, with ballast still needed to reach minimum weight.

I doubt I'll get a heavier battery any time soon, but I have room to move my electronics outboard to cover up to a 320g battery I figure.

[off-topic fortune telling]
The way the progression in RC seems to go, I'd venture to say the current trend for guys running the largest capacity they can for a higher ending voltage to gain any advantage they can find will probably be erased by longer mains.

Aside from 1/12, it wasn't that long ago that every electric class only ran 4min.

Battery capacity has more than doubled since 6 min. became the norm.

So, I got to race with Ronald Volker today

After 6 rounds of qualifying Ronald is TQ for the FEMCA ISTC Championships in Sydney this weekend, but XRAY is the best represented brand with 4 cars in the Amain including p2 and p3.

This is the first time I've seen a pro driver race and man is it awesome! I'm not sure if you guys have consistency/standard deviation scores in your race software but Ronald managed 0.08 in a 16 lap run today, that's robot precision! Umino and Masami are here too, it's all very cool

It's finals day tomorrow, I'm p6 & hoping to finish that high but there are some real guns behind me so we'll have to see. Hopefully there will be someone videoing, the track is super cool

Well bad news, the FEMCA finals were rained off today, so the results went on qualifying. While Ronald won the event, as he is not a member of the FEMCA block the FEMCA champion was actually XRAY driver and aussie team principal Ari Bakla. I'm sure Ari will post his setup soon, it will be under the handle NBHC on the XRAY site... It's very close to kit, gear diff up front with putty, shorter rear wheelbase and front shocks leaned in one hole

I didn't use the smokem chassis - mine didn't arrive in time. I did see one mounted though and it has a lot of flex, plarticularly around the front suspension bridge. Compared to the tamiya the XRAY with the FX chassis has less flex at the rear because of the bulkhead design, so it'll definitely have ample steering, hopefully it will also have enough rear grip!

I'll post my setup soon, my car was awesome to drive all weekend, again pretty close to kit and only 4/10ths a lap slower than Ronald

Edit: here is some of the action http://www.youtube.com/user/TeamYoko.../0/aIggTNpEBnA

... Nearly forgot, Masami presented the trophies!!!
