and for those on a budget, the hot bodies tcx front belt is basicly the same belt but less than 1/2 the price. Still Looking for a replacement rear belt.

Doesn't Spec-R, for the above clamps list front and rear replacement belts too. The show xray and yok BD5 as same belt.

Not sure about rear belts, But I tend to stay away from non mainstream companies for things like belts. I have some BD5 belts somewhere, I will see if they fit. Also I have been playing with the TCX and the front belt material is the same, where some of the other belts have rubber or poly belts but the tcx has the kevlar? coated belts also.

Those are very interesting pics. The outside plies are clearly a balanced plain weave carbon fiber (not "graphite"). It's hard to tell what's inside them. The edges don't give a clear indication as they don't look like a fresh trimmed edge; it looks like they've been post treated/sealed with something. The motor recess and countersinks kind-of indicate glass (not necessarily G10) due to the colors, but this could be light effects due to ply orientation as well (or maybe the motor section was just cleaned w/ a paper towel, or something?).

My educated guess is that it's ~9 plies CF (no glass). Maybe the laminate layup is 2x0/90, 2x45/45, 1x0/90, 2x45/45, 2x0/90.

the motor area has not been touched sam....i was just prepping the edges of the chassis and it did indeed seem like carbon fibre...had black powder all over my hands the same way as if it was my original xray chassis...

Was just flipping through an old RC mag and it mentions soaking the belt in WD40. Anyone do this with an Xray brand belt?

Default Exotek chassis with servo right way and tamiya shocks

Hey guys finally headed out for a run today with the new exotek chassis and tamiya shocks. All i can say is wow what a dramatic difference.I kept the same setup as originally, even with shocks kept same setup and it was alot more planted than when it was stock.
I did use the spec-r top deck which is slightly milled out a little to flex abit more and that helped too.

I found the tamiya shocks really nice and consistant and even had airless shocks after 4 runs

Did some more reading and found that it's not needed.
