Well... it looks like I'll be staying in the Xray family if the price point stays in the $480 range. My FK'05's are already sold, just waiting on a price and shipping date for the T3 2011 now.

Default Well...I guess price will be a big factor for me.

honestly I have to say I'm disappointed. Plastic steering, plastic shocks, It looks cheap, with what I guess will be a big price tag. I guess racers only care about handling. I'll never understand that way of thinking when all of them all handle well these days. It going to be hard to drop $480-$500 on something that I'll have to buy option parts to get what I want. All Aluminum steering, and camber links on the bulkhead would have made the difference to me. The value to cost lacks. My prediction? Well I'll keep it to myself. lol And that's all I got to say about that. lol

Plastic steering will do the same thing, just be cheaper.

Default Drew hows that going to work?

you mentioned Xray making Bulk head camber links as option parts? Are you going to have to buy new shock towers as well?

Why would u need new shock towers? It would just be te upper diff mount with vertical ball studs. Then you would have the option of either one.

Im not 100% sure the steering bell cranks aren't alumn. I know the prototypes all were. But they may have went to plastic with the introduction of the servo saver and to save weight/money. With that said te alumn ones may be available as on option if they don't come with the car.

Now that we have the specs, I haven't bought a brand-new release touring car ever, what's the normal time frame for these puppies to start shipping?

Usually about 4-6 weeks depending on how many new parts have to be made and molds and such but normally when the official pics are put up its already in production and just needs time to be ran and packed and shipped.

Glad to hear you are interested in the car. If u need anything or help on the car Drew and myself will be on here or the rcamerica thread and Paul has his own thread

Thanks

Hey EA, I know Rocky and I will sure take you and Drew up on some set up help with the new car when we get them. I would go to Bates, but you know he STARTS tuning with the Dremel and I choose to pass on that...Lol See you guys in Memphis next weekend.

To me, that is a BIG perk to owning an Xray

I've run my T1FK'05's the past few years, but naturally they're a bit "off" compared to the newer cars.

I really wanted to see a narrow lipo-specific chassis [check], dual crank steering to make it easier to put in the proper amount of akerman for smaller, tighter tracks [check, the single post FK'05 steering made the car nearly stop mid-corner when I had enough grip front and rear to hustle in the more open portions of the track, but not as much of a concern outdoor on asphalt], and for me, the lower profile shock bladders are a bonus. I like to build my shocks with hardly any rebound, but with the older bladders, doing so made it more likely to suck air in the shock at full extension.

So, going with the 2011 spec, I get to keep my familiarity with XRay equipment, and update to a car that's easier to adjust than my FK'05's were, and current enough to get meaningful feedback without trolling 4-5 year old threads.

I hope shipping date is closer to 4 weeks, carpet season is due to start November 6 for us. If I can't make that, I'll just be dialing in my 1/12. [2 brand new release cars in less than a year, a new record for me! I keep my stuff around for a while ]
