Thanks. I was asking because i was running your setup from the "Birds" in Blinky and it works well. However I go through a range of how the car responds through a heat. First, the cars starts out with a little push(first minute) then runs real good for 2-3 mins, then the car gets loose and un predictable later in the heat. This occurs regularly. I am using the same DR setup as you stated but someone told me to run about 70% DR and let the car come to you. I didn't like that because, I believe I will be sacrificing a lot of speed for the first two mins.

BTW I run at Horsham where Larry Fairtrace, Shreffler, Hanulec, Haynes(sometimes runs). So the competition is pretty steep and I need everything I can get to keep up with those guys.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
What do you do for tyre prep?

Im using Solaris tires with full sxt on the rear and half on the front. I prep them like 20 mins before the heat and clean them with Ronsonal before putting the sxt on.

I was going to ask about tire prep too but see you answered it already. Are the SolaIis tires the ones you have to run? Is everyone using SXT there as well? Ive found to ONLY clean your tires with what sauce you use. It makes a huge difference in the amount of traction you have. I clean as soon as I get done running with sauce and let sit till my next run. They I'll sauce (Full and full for me) and let sit 20-30min and leave wet until I put them right on the track. It could be that your car is pushing the first 2 min due to not saucing the whole front tire and could be using the sauce up and causing it to get erratic. Maybe try full sauce on the front next time.

Ive also found SXT doesnt work well anywhere where paragon or odorless paragon are being used for some reason. At our local track we use paragon and if you use SXT it does exactly what you are describing and builds up gunk on the tire.

Making sure your circles are the same both directions will help a ton with driving the car. If you take some dual rate out of it it will be easier to drive till you get used to it and gradually put some back in a little at a time as you get used to it.

Eric,

Thanks, we can only run sxt at the track and solaris tires or Jaco Blues. I have tried full front sauce and it pretty much reacts the same. It is getting quite frustrating as of now.

I will try t without cleaning with ronsonol and see.

Also wanted to ask ...on your Birds setup sheet you don't show the droop. I am running 2mm over ride height front and rear. Is there any way that could be a cause...too much rear droop.

I dont measure the droop...Just up travel. I start mine like this. I set all my camber and ride height and then I put the car on the stand and just tighten the droop screws until the collar just barely touches the spring...in other words no tension on the spring in the rear. In the front I go just a tick further. When you set it on the table I then feel the up travel to see if its equal and adjust so that it is if its slightly off. This should give about 2.5mm of up travel front and rear. At the birds I ended up running a little less up travel somewhere around 2.0 front and rear. The less up travel in the front the more on power steering you'll have and it will react quicker in fast corners.

Also try Jaco Blues with that setup. I ran them at a race last week against Sweeps and Solaris medium tires and was still a lot faster with Jacos.

Yes I would take it apart and build it. I dont use the super thin grease that comes in them. I either use AE lube or the new Hudy grease but its hard to find. Black grease on the thrust. Also ensure the thrust washers on are correctly. One is smaller and it goes on the outside.

Hey Craig,

I think they should be in the order coming in next week Ralph said. I think pretty much everything is in there too (weights, bulkhead clamps, shock bottoms, etc).

When you going to pony up and get a mic for PS3? Cut back on the racing a week and get a mic! LOL

For those guys that have tested the gear diff did you find you changed your setup some to get the right feel. I just got mine and only had 3k oil to put in car rotated threw corners nice but was very twitchy....would going to the 1-2k oil smooth it out or make it worse.

Thanks....oh and I have the T3'10

if it was twitchy midcorner to exit on power going to 1-2k would make it less twitchy.
