Default Pinion Question

I have a bizzare pinion. I have a set of robinson gears that go down to 24 teeth. Sopmewhere in the bottom of my box, I then found a 23 tooth pinion. At least it says 23 on it. When I count the teeth, it does in fact have 23 teeth. However, the outside diameter of the gear is much larger than the 24 tooth pinion from robinsion. My question is, if I run it, will it still give me the effect of a 23 tooth pinion, or will the larger diameter make it seem geared higher?

Thanks

Are you sure they aren't different pitches? I know that seems kind of obivious. But, it is the only thing I could think of to explain the difference in sizes.

Did you ever have a Tamiya car? If so, that mystery pinion from the bottom of your box may be metric in american standard.

Or... are you sure one isn't 64 pitch vs. 48?

Im sure that theyre both 64 pitch. I know because they mesh together, that how I counted the teeth.

I will post a picture when I find my camera.

If the diameter is larger the 24T pinion, then the pitches are different.

Most likely you soimehow ended up with a 56 pitch pinion (remember the Trinity BK pitch).... the pitch is pretty close to 64 so it would almost look like it meshes, but will chew up your spurs quickly.....

I guess it must be the pitch. Though I was able to mesh them together to count teeth. I guess Ill just splurge and buy a new one to be sure.

I dont think this one is a robinson gear, its a silver colour, I think its steel.

Dad has the camera on a business trip right now, whenever he gets back I will try for a picture.
