The D3 from Epic is a shelf motor.....The D3 from Express will be a "tuned" motor. Lots of horsepower out of the "Black Knight" last weekend at our regional race. Thanks again Tag!!

The sticker. It's the same motor.

When you buy from a builder (shameless plug for EA) you typically can be sure you're not going to get a motor that's DoA. The good ones will do a few tweaks to make sure the motor is at its best, but nothing too major, just proper shimming and matching rotors to cans. You can't go wrong either way, it's just a matter of preference.

What exactly is different between a 21.5 turn Crawler and a 21.5 turn SPEC motor? I ordered a 21.5 D3 and received a Crawler version (TEP1055), or at least it says it is on the box. I'm wondering if it's worth running in my VTA car.

Tim see the chart above and check to see which rotor you have in the motor you just got. That should be the only difference.

If its turquoise its a crawler rotor, but says it should be ok for the class. Your gearing for a torque motor though, so it may not be like the other racers in that class.

Would be nice to know what the 1, 2 & 3 means in the chart provided...Is there a legend?

I have two D3 motors (13.5 and 17.5); and, neither touches the performance of my very old Duo1 motors.

Look carefully, it says the numbers indicate performance in a certain class, 1 being the highest.
