Is there a standard gear up/down that people are using with this motor?

Should I go up one tooth, two teeth, three?

Thanks!

Rob
Rob start with full timing and around a 4.25 FDR in limited profile speedo classes. Thats what I am running on a 100x40 track.

Thanks Eric.

Are you going to any of the grand slam races (MSI this weekend)?

I didn't see you at the champs either.

What FDR would you run if you were running a Duo 2?

Thanks!

On the dyno you gain about 1000rpm at full timing and increased wattage across the board. So far its ran best for me at full timing in TC as well. The motor runs cooler to me also than a D2 or D1.

EA
EA, are you running full timing even in the "timed speedo" classes? FDR in the 6.0-6.6 range when using timing on the speedo?

Any word on if these are going to be in stores again soon? I don't want the crappy ones that have been picked over by the tuners with weak rotors and marked up $20

Trinity has gotten two separate shipments over the last few weeks, I would have thought they'd be in stock elsewhere.

I am noticing that the more changes I made to my D3 setup (gearing, timing, speedo) the less happy I am with the car. I think I really nailed it on the first setup, and wrenched my way out of it! I need to start back at my baseline.

I wont be there. I am going to try and make the one in Cleveland though in January. I would probably start 1 tooth more with the duo 2.

No I turn the timing back down to zero to start with in the open speedo classes. FDR in the 6.50 range depending on track size.

I got some in yesterday and the rotors are all good on these. I still have some rotors laying in the shop that were weak from the first 2 batches. And if your paying 20.00 more than a hobby shop your shopping at the wrong place!

The timing on my last post wasn't very good. I should point out I now buy all my motors from EA and they're always very fast. The nice thing about buying from a tuner is that they weed out the duds. If you find one you trust, that's the way to go.

I'm looking forward to trying a D3. I've tried every motor made, I think, and DUO is always the fastest.

If its anything like the Spec version D3's it should be great! The D3 spec motors are the best Ive ran so far. Other than a few weaker rotors in the first couple of batches they have been great. This current batch I have yet to find a bad rotor.

Thanks EA. I have run what would be 1-2 ticks on the D3 with boost and it helped a little but not dramatic. It really depends on the track, gearing, and ESC settings when you are running boosted.

Alright guys, Here's the magical question. Up here we usually run open speedo with our 17.5 1/12 scales. Since there are a bunch of guys on this forum that know what they are talking about. Would I run any timing in the motor when I run in the 17.5 class at the birds? any help greatly appreciated! I have had great luck with your products EA. Thanks for the quality motors.

Hey Windsor Thanks for the support! Normally I start with no timing on the motor with open class and once I feel like I have found the correct gear (usually close for all good size tracks) and I want just a little more I'll start adding timing to the motor. I will try to post a picture of a dyno sheet tonight at 0 and full timing so you guys can see the difference. Its not as much as you think but does make a difference.

At Vegas with the duo 2 I was about 2 notches past 0 in the open class with a 6.3FDR. I think my setup is on the Tekin site for the speedo settings.

kind of a brushless noob but does the duo 3 allow changing of stators?

i would like to get a 13.5 and 10.5 for different track's rules without having to buy two motors.
