I've got a question about the "ideal" fdr for off-road use (I know I'm in the wrong section but some of the guys are so hooked with these engines so at least I can try it here )

I have a D3 8.5 turns.

I'm driving a X-Factory X6 Squared with a FDR of 8.22 (78 spur and 23 pinion) is this a good thing ? I have some decent speed but it seems I can get more out of the engine. Our track is medium sized (30M straight) and quite smooth (astroturf though: pretty grippy). I've set the motor timing on default and my ESC's timing is default. Is there some target FDR or it's just trail and error?

Thanks in advance

My front bearing keeps drying up, my TC sounds like a tractor , What grease / oil do you recommend putting in the bearing? standard bearing oil seems to dry up / escape to quickly.

Default Mod Duo 3 motors

Hi all
Anyone running the mod Duo 3 motors, 4.5 turn, how are you finding the motor speed wise and low down grunt.

Regards
Gary

Hi all,

After some assistance with motor timing. How do you go about setting up how much timing to use? Should I be doing this before or after setting up the esc settings? I'm running a sp gt 2.1 with a d3 21.5.

Also what temps should I be looking for max?

Are you running the boosted or stock spec software on the ESC?

I would stick to 180*F and less for the motor temp.

need help, i'm running a d3 10,5 and rs pro esc 1/10 TC-boosted class foam tires, large asphalt nitro track, in terms of speed I did'nt have any issue with tekin rspro-lrp x12 10.5(lap times faster than a nitro TC), but with tekin rspro-epic D3 10.5 my laptimes are .40 to .60 sec. slower, i'm not new with setting tekin rs pro, but where is the problem? maybe lrp x12 is faster than epic D3 or there is something wrong? thanks.

Are the motor temperatures the same after a race? Maybe amount of timing in the motor. Seems every motor manufacture has different amount of timing.

In my experience an X12 motor needs a fairly different ESC and gearing setup than any Trinity motors, so if you haven't changed anything but the motor that would explain why it's slower.

X-12 motors and Trinity motors are very different. post your Tekin setup and we'll be able to see what can be improved. The trinity motors can handle more ESC timing than the X-12.

Just picked up a D3 17.5 but haven't ran it yet. I was wondering if these motors are built for Torque or RPM?
