Any motors I do doesnt come with a 15.00 sticker on them....I really like the D3 graphics that come on the motor anyway! Plus I sell mine for less than a stock D3 from AMain hobbies and you get a dyno sheet for zero and full timing to see exactly what the differences are when you adjust the timing of the motor. Theres a pretty big misconception that changing the timing on a duo 3 really changes a lot. It may feel like a lot on the track but in reality its not near as much as you think on the dyno when racing spec speedo class.

Default D3s Very Consistent

Regarding the motor tuners, they are very helpful in getting you a motor set up for what you will be doing with it. Rather it is 1s oval racing or 2s off-road racing. The basic motors are the same rather they come from Epic as a D3 and such, but you are getting the support and help from the tuners.

Regarding getting a dud... The good news is that there are not as many as you would think because the D3s are very consistent in performance yes one may be a little better than another, but on track performance is very close. It is tuning the motor via timing, rotor and such that you get extra support from the tuners. They have there place and offer good products and services. I myself feel I have a handle on these tuning needs and run motors straight from epic but I have been at this racing stuff for over 20 years. Without that experience I would need to rely on someone else for help as well.

If you have any questions on motor timing, specific application or gearing I would be glad to help as well. These motors are crazy fast but have a different power band then you may be used to... They will take being way over-geared without getting crazy hot, but you will loose the low end punch they are capable of producing.

Can anyone tell me if the Duo3 tuning rotors will work in the Fantom Ion3 motors? Thanks.

I have been considering getting one of these but can someone tell me if it has and what the advantage is over a Ballistic say in the flavor of a 17.5 for running open esc 1/12. I apologize if this has been covered before as I have not read through the +240 posts.

The D3 is slightly more efficient over the "B", other than that both are very good motors.

I have a dyno sheet ready to post on here comparing readings between zero and full timing but for some reason RCTech refuses to upload any of my pics from an Iphone that I have saved on my computer. If someone wants to try and post them for me or figure out whats wrong I can email it to you.

[email protected]

Its only an RCTech issue. I can post Iphone pics on any other site I visit with no problem.

got your email from the weekend. I will take care of that this evening.

We missed you in Mississippi. it was a good race. long day though. we ran 4 quals and the main all on Saturday. the weather was rolling in. we stayed til 3am to run some more packs after racing. the traction came up sat afternoon. won spec 1/12 with a duo. still needed a couple more teeth on it, but ran out of time.
