They mount to the upper deck perfectly and place the diff in the same position as on the 416X. But you need new holes in the lower deck for the bulkheads and also suspension blocks as they will otherwise hit the bulkheads.

On the 417 all these parts appear to be new though.

It's interesting that Tamiya is making the motor mount beefier while other maunfacturers are making their smaller, even to the extreme like the CEFX Evo(Yikes!). I like Tamiya's approach better cause there's less worry about tweaking the motormount in a bad crash.

Um, the CEFX Evo motor mount, although small, is made of steel, not aluminum. It would probably bend or break the motor screws or the screws holding it to the chassis before anything else.

I know it's steel. I was only using the CEFX Evo mount as an example of how small the mounts were getting. Actually, I would be more worried about the motor case/ends getting tweaked in the event of a bad crash.

man jus when i pick up a 416x and lipo chassis this comes out... oh well guess i'll have to wait till DEC for this

Looks like a narrow ta05ms. The bulkheads are the same. Obviously the motor is even more central to the chassis, but it seems to also be placed more forward on the chassis than the 416x like the ta05ms.

Are you guys really that surprised? Tamiya comes out with a new car every year, same as Xray.

Looks very promising. I like many of the changes and of course all of the top touring cars will likely have lipo chassis' after this year. After running my 416WE without the steering brace that connects to the top deck for the first time this week, I can see why they are ditching it all together. Really made the front end come alive.
