Endurance Motor
Hi I would like to ask if anyone has ran an endurance race and found a motor that would run a few hundered laps without the need to change the motor due to wear or overheating?

all motor can run hundreds of lap if u get the light running ratio for the motor. not over not too under . over and too under gearing might get the motor tooo hot. make sure the car can handle the heat from the bearing (no lubricant, us grease).

our local off road track ran a 10 hours race, 1600 plus laps, i built a motor using a reedy ti mod can, p2k2 arm and straight copper brushes. most of the others used a quad magnet can and pk2 arm. gearing is very important.

Thanks, but I'm talking about an endurance run of a few hundred laps. You wanna minimize battery changes while still maintaining good speed and laps.
So I'm checking if there's any motor out there that does this balancing act well.

with 3300 or even 3600 14T to 19T will give u great peak up an speed but low runtime and 20T an above lower peak up can be gear to the same speed longer run time.
depend on the track size gearing and motor T do affect alot

no tayima style motors were used. i only saw one other motor besides mine, it looked like a "normal" wear motor, mine didn't burn either but it took a few cuts to get the comm true again, battery changes were about every 10 minutes or little more on average.

off couse for such a long run time the motor comm will be burn
brush important
soft brush - power, more dirty on comm, less run time (the brush), comm turn black (carbon)
hard brush - less power, cleaner comm, more run time (the brush), comm turn purple or so

Hmm.. were there any special techniques or tactics used to keep the motors in running condition during the race??

not for endurance, but 8 minutes race i used 8T at ratio 9.8 for track size 120ft x 60ft. i get the best lap time. some us 23T 12T they did get the speed on the straight and some over gearing cost not enough run time

yes the end bell timing before start, don't punch too much (more linear driving) avoid chasing with ppl such a long race let them go if they ae fast. just avoid accident, hitting other car or barrier and full punch on exiting corner

no nothing special was done this year, one guy ran a heat sink this year, last year one had a can of something, he would spray on the motor while the battery was being changed, it cooled the motor, i want to say it was fe - on, but don't think that was what it was. this thread is new and i'm sure others will respond shortly with more info,
