20R or 24R

i'll be running rubbers on carpet and i have sorex 28,32R tires.

will get another set so i wanna know which is used more often, or "safe" to go with, 24's or 20's?

its a temporary carpet track FYI

If its relevantly cool inside, use the 20s but if its hotter inside, use the 24s.

28's in the front and 24's in the rear. If the traction is really low then you can try 24's in front and 20's in the rear, carefull though, you might traction roll.

Hi You must be going to the big race in two week in Vancouver BC.. Most of the guy there used 20 in the rear and 24 in the front...Good luck

Matt,

What inserts?

P2 06-15-2004 05:04 PM

I've used HPI reds with 28s/24s as Matt H suggested:D

HPI reds or the Xenon Grey's worked good for me this past winter

rc_square24 06-15-2004 06:15 PM

well...for other people whos also goin to this race, it seems that theyre allowing foams now...

Joel Lagace 06-15-2004 06:21 PM

I have had good luck with my SD using:
FRONT: 24 with blue hpi insert
REAR: 24 with green hpi insert

rc_square24 06-15-2004 07:17 PM

as theyre allowing foams now...how much in laptime difference between rubbers and foams on carpet?

thanks for the replies!

rc_square24 06-15-2004 07:22 PM

oh and how are speedminds compared to jaco foams on carpet? cuz theyre alot cheaper!!

Joel Lagace 06-15-2004 07:29 PM

Foam will be faster the rubber .5 to 1 second a lap at least. )

As for pricing JACO and SMC now have a Vancouver based distributor so prices will be coming down soon

rcsabah 06-16-2004 01:15 PM

any sample pic of carpet used for carpet race??

rc_square24 06-16-2004 06:21 PM

no cuz itll be setup for this one race..thanks though

Mike Haynes 06-16-2004 07:04 PM

Speedmind foams are crutty compared to a jaco, but the TRC is way better then both if you ask me.

Foam is a lot faster then rubber in mod and 19, but its closer in stock where traction isnt as important.
