This will never work this way. These are not usb hosts we're talking about. Besides the hardware that is missing there is no software in the os to handle this. The only way at this point is to use any off the connection methods we have at this moment. So Bluetooth or WiFi is most likely.

AFAIK all esc's use a ftdi device in the interface box to make a TTL rs232 signal. IOW the esc is just a 'old' serial device. Maybe somebody can use some hardware pins to simulate a rs232 port, but I thinks this is unlikely.

Once transmitters don't use the ppm signal anymore we could exploit this by having a standard programming interface in the transmitter that can program all devices connected to the receiver.

This won't happen soon ;-)

I always have many idea's, but little time....

I'm working on a hardware based timer for 12th scale racing where front tires are soaked shorter then rear tires. In the timer you can either just start the timer and it will tell you when to soak the front tires, or enter a time for your heat and it will tell you when to soak the rears and fronts.

I did it in hardware since I wanted to play with Arduino, but might as well make it for a laptop (that everybody has with him ;-) or an Android app.
Here's 2 examples:

An Android App like any of those two would be great to have on my Droid X. All there is are 2 gear chart apps.

I've been using Gears! on my EVO. I believe the App's author has a thread here somewhere.
