Default Battery questions...

Well i didnt want to make a post for this but with search being down for like a week already i guess i will. What cheap batteries do you guys run and have success with? I have both a smc and thunder power that have puffed up after not to many cycles. Im starting to think 100.00 dollar batteries arent really worth it. Anyone having any success with the hobbyking stuff? Anything else i should look into? Thanks guys

if you don't need a roar approved pack. I figured why take the same risk with a higher priced pack while you can buy one cheaper, or take 4 risks for the same price.

Turnigy..

Have you talked to SMC or TP and told them the problem?

Go back to the nimh, i haven't had a lipo that isn't poofed a little after only few months of use(10-20 runs), from my experience lipo aren't good cells at all if you expect long life and usege of them. They are fast all the way from punch, speed, to the lifespan that is super short.
And yes i always take care of my lipos properly charging/balancing/discharging.
At the end i was thinking that nimh's were expencive Now my power bill is dubbled only cos i swich from nimh's to lipos. I hope that Life will be main power soon

You discharge your lipos then wonder why they puff up and have limited life?

I guess i will give them a call. From my experience though and what i see it seems like no matter expensive or cheap they all puff. 80% of the smc i see are a lil puffed like mine. Only reason i was looking for a cheap alternative Owen is regardless if they puff or not they are still 100 bucks. I would like some cheaper club race, practice batteries even if they are not roar approved. For 25 bucks if they turn out to be half as good as most people say the turnigy will work for me.

SMC's puff all the time but that's pretty rare for a TP. Give them a call and see if they can help you out.

Here is my issue with that, is that I have people come into the shop all the time with Turnigy problems. Just buy good packs. Its worth it.

Yeah, I haven't seen too many TP batteries puff up. I've beat the hell out of mine, and they're still as flat as a brick. I store them between 3.8 and 3.7 volts.

no, just take care that cells aren't discharged to much when in use.

I have SMC, GP, IP, and PowerFlo packs. Never had any issues. Had the SMC for over a year. I use them, always balance charge, store them at 70%, and keep them in a cool dark place when not using.
Maybe i'm just lucky.
