I recently order a set of 20's to try in doors. Our carpet is low traction and Michigan has cold winters. After mounting them, you can press to tires together and one will hang from the other one. These things are like glue. I'm not expecting any life out of them but they should be fun to try. I order them from RCMart.com. Low prices and shipping was pretty fast considering they are overseas.

The problem wit Sorex is that they lose grip very soon (as already mentioned). After a few sessions they're so down on traction they are useless. Our club (med bite carpet) used 20s and 24s in the past (winter/summer). They are indeed like glue, but not for long. My guess is they have some sort of traction additive that goes off and then they're finished ( I have however no proof).

Recently our club has actually changed over to Sweep 24 and they are much better. They keep the same level of grip virtually until you end up running on the canvas. Aqua inserts.

These come loose, premounted (but not glued, with a range of inserts) as well as premounted AND glued (again with a range of inserts). The rims however are total crap.

Weird, I (and others) have found that sorex (SJR's) on asphalt don't get fast until a couple (2-4) scrub runs.

I will agree with you. Sorex are the best tires on asphalt. I turned the fastest laps of the day yesterday on a set of 36 with about 5 runs on them. But locating a set of SJR is a challenge!!

They have all been bought out. Cut your old ones open and save the inserts. I have 3 sets of inserts waiting to be salvaged. You can call SJR/Speedworld and buy black Jaco rims, then you have straight up SJR's!

I TQ'ed and set the track record with 2yr old Sorex 36's and the tire's had plenty of grip. A new set would have had more steering and in turn I would have been even faster.

I also had to resort to using......8yr + old Sorex 36 and 40s from my nitro touring days. The older ones dont even say what hardness it is but back then there wasn't 40's yet so i'm assuming they're 36's. Did the WD40 soak + Buggy grip and theyre working suprisingly well although theyre reserved only for RC"GT" duty.

Most tracks in the UK the Sorex's are best on their first run, but there are some tracks where scrubbed in tyres are best.

I think it all depends on the exact makeup of the track surface.
