Just wanted to share a little tip with you guys I got from Matt over at the Reedy race when he was providing team support.

When soldering wires straight to the top of the motor posts like the first picture oppose to the second picture where the wires are soldered inside the post holes it is a good idea to solder in the holes carefully through to the front side to keep the posts in place to avoid movement of the posts especially in offroad where there is excess jaring but still a good idea on road.

Here my current setup on my tekin RS..

Motor = 17.5 murffdog
Turbo = max
Boost = 20
motor timing = stock
Delay = .1
RPM = 5200 - 11000
Ramp = 2

FDR = 6.9

Track size = 100x40

I found murffdog motor is very smooth than my d3 but I can't get the temp below 185 but with the same setup with my D3 came off the track only at 120 degree. Murffdog 17.5 it's fast but the power fades at the end due to heat build up. My setup is pretty mild as you guys can tell but I found this motor runs pretty hot this the replacement motor after I fried the first one. So need some help here guys.

Give me a good starting setup turbo is only 20 degree of max timing. I also tried 40 boost and 7 degree of turbo and it still runs hot.. I really like this motor the power delivery is really smooth but I just can't keep the temp low..

Default are most 2WD buggy racers going with a MD 17.5 and Tekin RS?

Hi Matt, I'm pretty sure I'm in the wrong section to ask a stock (17.5) question but I'm gonna anyway. All the way from Sydney, Australia (down under) are most off road B4 2WD buggy racers (that wanna win) going with one of your 17.5 and a Tekin RS?? I just had a bad Novak Havoc experience and would like a competitive set up. My skills (may) increase but if you buy slow you always stay slow. Thanks mate.

The Murfdogg motor with Tekin RS series speed controller is pretty much as good as it gets. Matt has spent a crazy amount of time getting this setup to perform as good as it does. Many fast fast guys run this setup and swear by it. You cant go wrong. The other manufacture you mentioned dosent even compare to Matt's motors.

I suggest Tekin RS Speed Controls with my 17.5 Synergy Motors and our 5500mah 65C battery for maximum power.

Default Some advice please

Hey guys,

I bought a Murfdogg 1s 17.5 from a buddy and, due to circumstances beyond my control, I'm thinking I'm going to need to run it in my Touring Car in 17.5 Stock unboosted class at our big race this weekend.

Is there any particular issue in doing this with a 1s specific motor? Would I need to alter my FDR to account for the fact that it's a 1s motor?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,
Mike

You might have to drop a tooth or 2 on your pinion. The 1s motors have a little less torque, but it has more rpm.

I just bought a slightly used 2s 17.5 synergy. What is the stock end bell timing? My LRP X11 zero timing setting is actually 40 degrees advanced. Is 0 degrees on a Murf endbell truly 0 degrees? I have wanted to experiment with retarded static timing for low speed torque and ramp the timing up at higher rpm. (example: -10 degrees static, 40 degrees boost for an effective +30 degree advance at full rpm)
btw, using a Tekin RS esc.

Thanks for any help.
