Hi guys:
I am about to buy a new car.....i am debating between the TRF415 and the Xray T1, i surely love the look of the TRF415. And i have read something about the T1, seems like its tab bit better than the TRF? Please help me make up my mind...!

Have you noticed that the Xray is on everyone's list of 'this-or-that'.....

it should tell you something about the appeal of this car.

Parts for the Xray are readily available..but there's a good chance you won't need them. The car's design, handling, parts fit and finish and build quality are amazing. The care handles like a dream and it's about as close to bulletproof as I've seen in a touring car.

I don't have a Factory Kit....I'm currently using an original T1, and I'm just finishing up assembly of an Evo2 C-hub car. The T1 shocks people with how well it handles and turns. The Factoroy kit apparently improves that handling by a great margin again.

I'm not saying anything bad about the 415...I don't know enough about the 415 to have any comment. What I DO know is that I highly doubt that you'd have any disappointment with the Xray

Both are very nice cars. I was in the same boat as you a month back but in the end, I picked up the Xray FK. It's just my preference nothing against the 415. I guess, the deciding factor for me is the front diff availability for the T1 since I drive on carpet sometimes. Some people were able to put a diff together for the 415 using parts from other cars but I am too lazy to do that. Either way, you can't go wrong with those cars.

Heres a 'friendly' advice.

Buy both cars.
Test both cars.
Sell either one car.

LoL. Just pulling your leg.

You wont go wrong with either car.
If u like the looks of the 415, get it.
If you prefer performance out of the box and with tonnes of proven set up that is easily accesible on the net, get the T1 FK.

Of cos, personnally, i would advice you to get a T1FK.

Even as a 3rd party observer (Losi owner), I can say that both of these cars are very good. I have been beaten by both

I would suggest that you take a look at parts distribution as a key factor in this. If you can get parts readily for one over the other, then I would go that direction. I have been burned many times (Yokomo) and have been very frustrated with a lack of parts.

A couple of quick notes:
- Tamiya has a few less tuning options, which as it turns out, could be a huge benefit. The car is well balanced.
- X-Ray is great on carpet, and the diff note above should not be overlooked if that is a consideration
- Its always helpful having others with the same car at the track (setup advice - parts you don't have - etc.)
- Tamiya tends to changes cars once per year (twice if you consider the Evo design group who are independent of the 4xx designers) - There is some overlap, but not generally an upgrade path - although watch someone prove me wrong
- X-Ray tends to make running changes to the car, so there is a readily available upgrade path


I am considering a change after the worlds (when all of the new updates start appearing). Losi is likely to change their car, the Tamiya Evo 4 will be readily available, who know what AE and X-Ray are going to do, but you can bet there are going to be some new kits available.

Personally, I like the look of the TRF. But I find it lack tuning options when it's about camber links. That have a great impact on handling...

well, since i am in Hong Kong right now, not every hobby shop sell the Xray, and i asked one of the racer who owns a shop here, he recommended me the TRF...
and i know Tamiya doesnt have as much after market stuff as xray.......
but since TRF is newer. maybe i will take the TRF, its too hard to make up my mind

i would also go with the t1fk, its very tough and has exelent craftmanship. And how can you say the 415 is newer, the fk was just released in april.
