Default about smc lipo

why smc sucks and expensive and still people use it?
i know 5 different people including myself use smc c max. all of it expanded before 5th cycle.
worst part is smc do not want to cover warranty
anyone else have bad experience with smc?

Here we go again.
I had a pack that puffed, got onto SMC by Email and explained etc etc. They replaced it with no problems although it was just out of warranty. They actually upgraded a 5200 40C to 5400 50C, and they are a very good battery and company if you ask me.

I've had the Marc Rheinhard edition 5200mah 50C for around 5 months now, and not had a problem with it. I balance charge it every charge using a decent charger, regularly charging at 15amps without a problem.

i paid $130 + shipping from tower hobby and i always balance charge with 4a everytime. it still expand. i explained by email to smc but they would not get me a new pack. btw the new pack wont last that long anyways/
i will have to recycle the lipo before it burn down my rc car, my car and my house.

i would not buy smc again and i will tell people to stay away from smc

I have three SMC 1S 5300/50C LiPos and they are excellent. More performance than other makes, and no problems at all.

Did you buy your SMC LiPos from overseas, especially from the Far East? It seems to be a common point in the problems with SMC cells - they come from the Far East. Ones from the US seem to be OK, with the ROAR sticker around the edge. Just a thought...

There have been many problems with the US ones as well, including mine. It performed very well while it lasted, just didn't last long.

I have 2 of the C Max 50c's and have had no issues so far. It could be a storage issue. SMC recommends that you do not store fully charged batteries. They should be stored around 7.6v and in an air conditioned place.
