Hi all,

I really like the group C cars, and it is a shame we have no interest where I stay, in fact getting people out to Race anything here is difficult.
I have the Advan Courage kit but I will likely never run the body because it is unlikely to be released again and I love it's shape.
I am therefore looking for a suitable body to use so I can make vroom sounds while I haul it around the track on its own! Lol.
The courage kit uses the 12mm hex and even with the widest tires I have, the wheel base is around 180mm. I would like to put TC bodies or group c, but I need to get the track wider. I saw 3Racing did a 4mm widening kit for it, but they are nowhere to be found.
Will I have to convert it to run F103 sized tires/wheels?

If you want to run it just stick a 190mm body on it and run it.
The F103GT is about the same width as most touring cars as it is, maybe a millimetre or two narrower. 190mm touring cars aren't exactly 190mm wide.

If you do want to widen the car then get some wider offset wheels, HPI sell a wide range of 6mm offset wheels which will add 12mm to the chassis width, if you want to go really mad Speedmind sell wheels with up to 10mm offset which will add 20mm to the width.

I just ordered a GT body from ABCHobby along with a diffuser, and bumper for my F103GT. I'm with you on the Courage body - it is a great detailed body and would be a shame to destroy on the track. The GT or Response body costs considerably less than the Tamiya Courage body. I say run the GT or Response and save the Courage for shelf duty.

Im surprized we are struggling just to keep touring cars here in the winter.
Are these like a pan car chassis? They sit lower to the ground than a touring car would.

I have an old parma decal set for the Silk Cut Jaguar. Ive always wanted to do a body for it since i cant sell the decals. I noticed a XJR14 on Rcmart for F103. I have a f104pro and dont mind converting. any ideas if that body would work? I believe my decals are more for the XJR12, so i would keep the rear wheels covered.

Yes they are pan car chassis.

When Tamiya created the Group C kits to fit the different bodies they needed to be able to vary the wheelbase, so they replaced the chassis on their F1 cars with a moulded tub and a separate front section so it could be built in three wheelbases, with a couple of coloured plastic upper braces to stiffen up the chassis. The front and rear ends of the Tamiya Group C cars are identical to their F102 F1 chassis.

Although these days the bodies are quite often mounted on converted f1 chassis instead.

Hi 2WD, it's a bit of a vintage - PTI, from the old HPI Super Nitro I believe.

Cheers

The 962 from earlier post is 200 mm.

We're planning 3 decal sets, the Rothmans, Goodrich and FromA

Was it made for WGT and/or Tamiya F1 cars?
