Hello all, first post on R/C Tech!

I read the whole thread about the Group C cars and it was quite entertaining and fun.

I have a few F103s that I'm trying to get going again, in addition to my F104.

I already have the Tamiya GT1 TS020 body for the regular F103. I've found that it fits perfect with the stock Tamiya foam wheels with foam tires.

Two questions:

As far as I have researched, the Shimizu F103 rubbers should fit fine on stock Tamiya F103 foam wheels or Ride F103 rubber wheels, correct?

Second question concerns bodies:

The Advan Courage body is a 257 wheelbase, 190mm width body.

As far as I have researched, this body will go over an F103 with the following modifications:
-F104 rear wheels (rubber or foam makes no difference, both 10mm narrower than F103 rear wheels)
-F104 Front Suspension arms (to reduce the front width)
-F104 or F103 front wheels (same width, but varying diameters based on tire choice
-F103 LM or GT front bumper with body posts

I already have all the parts and have one of my F103s converted, so I'm at 257mm wb, 180mm wide. With the body on, I I'll have about 5mm of space between the edge of wheel and the edge of the body.

Has anyone tried mounting the Advan Courage body already on a converted F103, or am I the first to attempt the conversion?

The biggest problem with the Advan shell will be the very narrow rear wheel arches which dip down over the motor pod, even F104 tyres might be too wide to fit in the arches.

Ah, thank you! I knew that there had to be some other reason why I don't see more of those bodies mounted on Tamiya F1 cars. I'll have to investigate further to see if narrow foam tires mounted on standard wheels will work, or if a standard width foam trued down to a smaller diameter will clear.

The Courage was designed for TC wheels and tires.

I have an F103GT - with the Courage body. I can check if the foams on my F104W would clear the rear arches if you want me to verify. As it is right now - wider 30mm wheels/tires or +6 offset wheels tend to rub on the inside upper wheel arches of the Courage shell. 0 offset, 26mm wheels are fine. I have touring car foams on order; I'll measure them (when they come in) as well and let you know.

Well that was going to be my next question, mounting nitro foams on the chassis to see if that would work. I may just pull the trigger on the body and just trim where it rubs--just worried if it will weaken the body too much, but I could just reinforce with mesh tape and plastic epoxy.

And please do mount the 104 foams and tell us how much of the body actually rubs and/or show pictures.

The foams I purchased came in today. They seem to be 0 offset wheels. There is plenty of clearance with the foams I have on the Courage body. The mounted foams puts the car @ about 175mm

Here are clearance pics of the rear:

Hi Roy

I purchased the chassis already converted here in NZ, from forum user Bumpy.
He has made a few RC10R5 235 conversion kits, drop him a line. They are very good cars with this conversion, mine is currently NZ #1.

PTI - that looks really nice, what width chassis will it fit?

Porsche 962 ? It looks pretty good. I would be interested if it fits an F103GT.
