the SP is very similar to the duos, I've been told they come from the same factory but have different sensors. Compared to the duos they seem to run cooler, and they can take higher temps too (duos are dead to me now, they cook at 80C). There is very little in it for speed though, just like all the other spec motors out there

The lrp x12 is the best in my mind. The have it all punch rpm and takes slot of heat and keep going. I had the turbo on max at my last race and hit 300 deg motor temp no side effects keep on running.

Get a lrp

I would vote X12 also. I run modified and have no knowledge of stock racing. I have however had my 4.5 for over a year running at very high temps and had no problems. They seem to like the heat.
I have a new GM motor waiting for its first outing so will keep you posted. I like the idea of fixed timing but on a 3.5 I doubt you need to tinker much with the timing.
