Cool Ok I'm looking at getting either a Yokomo CGM or an Xray but.....

no matter what car I do get unfortunately I don't have the money to buy a second car for spares (like I've always done in offroad back in the day).

But will have a couple of hundred left over so the question from a newbie to the onroad side of things is what would be the best spares to get just in case?

Cool thanks, as well as umm generic spares I was wondering if there are any to carry in particular for either of these models? You know some cars have a tendancy to break certain bits while other cars different bits altogether.... that sort of thing.

With the Yokomo's, they break in the front, usually because of the bumper. You might want to buy Yokomo's wide front bumper set or the RPM Bumper for the TC3 then modify it.

If you get the X-Ray I'd get:

C-hubs
Steering blocks
arms

In that order if your really money limited, but a few of each of those should set you up for about 90% of accidents. X-Rays are pretty tough cars in my experience, if your a halfway decent driver you won't even break very many of the parts I listed.

Not forgetting belts and pulleys if your running on sandy area.

Other then that, your completely safe to run on race day

Default Well half way decent....

I dunno I haven't raced for 12 years and that was off road but when I was still racing I never did worse than a B final so I wasn't total crap anyway...best I ever did was 4th in 4wd stock in the NZ nat champs.

Like Michael Schumacher said
"Shit happen and it happen today".

It doesnt hurt to have some spares in the bag.
Even World Champion has accidents somewhere in the line.
I have spares for my EVO2 sitting in my bag for 5 months now.
But it doesnt hurt to know that it will happen and you are prepared for it.
