Default Un-orange Xray

Wondering if i'm the only one who loves Xray tourers , but hates the god-awful orange anodising ??

Other than buy another, non- orange brand, what have you done to ditch the hideous hue ???

If you look in the clean wire thread, you'll see people have gone to the extent of black anodizing their xray.

I wouldn't imagine it would change anything other than the color of the alumn. Granted I would suggest trying it on a part thats not very important. If for nothing else to make sure it looks good

PS I know a couple of anodizers in Sydney if you really wanna get it done.

Default Amen to that....

I can't stand the orange, one big reason why I'm waiting for their new car in the "R" version. lol

Here is a pic of my black 009 fleety, there is a guy in newtown who can do all the anodizing for about 90 bucks, just gotta be careful what colour you choose apparently as the grade of alloy does not anodize evenly with some colours.. what those colours are i definitely cant tell you.

I actually love the orange on the Xray's. It really makes it pop, you know?

In the long run, with the better parts that the T3 has it seems that it would be cheaper to have it anodized ($35.00 for instance from my service) instead of having to buy carbon chassis and upper decks and such.

Here's mine:

(edit: and just for the record, I don't think the orange/gold is hideous at all, I just wanted something different)

Let's just start a Clean Anodizing Thread. There is enough of us custom anodized car folk.

Hi Pablo,

I still have the pinkie, used it a couple of times to date.
It goes ok, still needs some dialling in though....it simply doesn't take a nudge like an Xray will though.
I traction rolled it last time in a tight turn and slammed a side barrier and broke it. The plastics aren't as good as i'm used to. Probably more like a Losi or Associated. Not bad, but not the best either.

I have a second hand T3 on the way, should have it in a week or so.
I'll strip it down and remove the orange, then decide if I want it anodized.

What colours are available ??
