Plastic spur holds up just fine for GT racing, I have one in my converted MP 777 GTE setup with a center spool.

+1

Better to strip a plastic spur than blow apart diff gears..... less rotational weight too.

I tried the plastic spur gear.. for 3 laps lol then it stripped! Of course i was running 6s when this happened But if youre planning on just running 4s you should be fine.. but being that your used to the speed of the vorza on 6s.. its likely you wont be using just 4 lol

I just installed mine tonight, will see how it holds up with my 5S. I hear you about the 44T. I got it so I don't have to use such large pinions

The other option would be to go with the Ofna 40T which is steel.

By the way, were you using a steel pinion gear or aluminium?

I myself have steel gears right now.. will see how long it will last..

Its probably best to use an aluminium with the Kyosho plastic gear.. although I don't know of anyone that makes a mod 1 aluminium gear!

What do you guys think about cutting out the rear of the corvette body kind of like on the wedge bodies? Besides that it won't look as good of course.. I have no rules at my track

You're right it won't look good, but you'll have better air flow though the car. You might see a small gain in speed, but only a few tenths of a second(Not much). And it'll only matter in the straights.

You may also lose rear down force, since rear wing won't be as secure.

Cutting back end off usually benefits nitro car, since the increased airflow helps keep motor cooler

You're right, the wing will flex. But if you leave enough of the corners, the wing should be stable enough. You could also do what we do in Oval car and make a wing mounting system that holds the wing from the rear window.

Yea I'd say what were doing is most similar to dirt oval racing.. Are those bodies open in the rear? I even just put some extended hubs on the right side! About to go try it out now!
