The old nascar 500 production car requirement would solve all the body issues and eliminate the need for an approved body list. Keep the body weight rule if you want, that's fair. Just be ready to show a picture of your "scale" body next to a real production car at tech.

Edit: let's say 200 production cars, that would include the majority of the faster production cars while eliminating hyper cars.

I have been racing the Mazda Furai body for many years..

The hyper car bodies out now, once they are painted like a TC, really can't see much of a difference. I fully support bringing this back to cars that actually look like cars. One of the reasons I loved the class to begin with, but then the body rules came and now, well it's TC again.

How cool would it be to get back to the these:

No thank you.

Not fighting or arguing. Just curious. Why?

Because Exotek makes USGT bodies, so he would stand to lose sales.

We need to accept that USGT is beyond the point of no return. To go back to its original intent of actual scale GT cars is going to cut out Bittydesign, PF, Montech, Exotek and others.

Meh, shouldn't have designed them that way to begin with........imo

the rules still allow you to run your Favs.... will they be as fast?...depends... The C8, Ford GT, and Caddy from PF, and the C7 Vette all still win...Ive tested the Venom, Pzero, Lambo, and others and I go back to what I like on a "scale" looks... I get more out of what my car looks like on the track than chasing "bragging" rights or another bowling trophy

This "body debate" keeps coming around like a mind numbing boomerang.......I can't remember the point.

I'd just love to see someone in the AMain at a national event with a square bodied vintage Audi.

The point is because of the perception of 'our desire to go fast' no one really creates Vintage AUDIs anymore.. The manufacturers of these bodies have slowly moved the class away from that in order to 'make a buck' with the mentality of if mine goes faster it will sell.. their intentions may start out as such, but the result is always 'a few tenths' from it..

The people have always been asking for more scale bodies and more scale bodies but we aren't getting them. We are getting 'what is quicker than the competition'..

$0.02

I think the point was that the "Real Racers" were all coming into USGT and turning it into something that it's not - 21.5 touring. Why? because no one gave a crap about 21.5 touring and watching Dodge Stratus and Mazda 3 bodied cars running stupid dish wheels with even dumber looking tribal paintjobs. So, the stretching of the rules to include the "fast" bodies with the dumb paintjobs. I'm surprised that they still haven't allowed dish wheels in USGT. Like I said earlier, I searched for a USGT race on youtube and I thought it was 21.5 touring, stopped watching that video and looked for crockpot cooking videos instead.

The sad part is....

Its gotten to a point to where these bodies that are considered 'scale' are starting to look worse that the Proto-blobs that we were trying to get away from in the beginning.

$0.02

this is my basic lineup ...I like these bodies for looks and they all have their Pros and Cons on the track.... but its the look that I enjoy

Metalsoft 04-02-2021 08:18 AM

From my perspective, they look the absolute best going around the track as well.

OSherman 04-02-2021 08:37 AM

and to add to that...

today these are the better examples of scale bodies, so to that note I applaud them... however when they were first released, there were better examples readily available.

this is the point of the argument that keeps coming up.. some may call it evolution of the class, some may not.. but it is/has definitely shifted.

Raman 04-02-2021 12:03 PM

That is great sample of scale bodies. They are scale because the manufacturer paid for licensing and my guess would be their licensing fees are not exorbitant. As for the Hyper bodies.. None of them would be able to afford the fees commanded by Pagani, Aston Martin, Lamborghini.. so we have the Hyper lookalikes.

At the end of the day, it comes down to a personal decision. You can choose to stay true to the class as Darkside has and lead by example. Or you can follow the mob and go pick up a hyper blob. Your call.
