That would be me.

So let me begin todays rant with all the people who complain that everyone runs the same body. Why would everyone run the same thing? When manufacturers make lightweight bodies, which they do even if you don't want them to, a lot of people feel you have to have one. But what if that advantage is negated? Perhaps you could use a body you like, but is heavier! Amaze-balls!

This was never meant to be 17.5 sedan with different bodies. Please stop acting like that is what it is.

Now.. I wonder if other groups will join in on the minimum body weight rule. It also (hopefully) leads to longer lasting bodies. Cheaper racing is a good thing. WGT-R is on board..

Speaking of rules, the current weight is 1380g. Now that TC is moving to 1320g do you have any inclination to move USGT to 1350g?

Not a smart thing to do. That would penalize those with older cars and deter newbies from buying older cars with a handy cap already.

Another way to deter them is making them buy a $80.00 spec motor to run the class were as a newbie could run the class with a older car and a cheap 21.5 motor like hobbyking or Aries.

Most aren't reading the statement regarding this specific motor. IT WASNT INTENDED TO RUN WITH A CERTIFIED REV TECH OR HAND PICKED R1. Yes your open timing motor will be faster. We as racers are the problem with racing. We complained about the motor of the month, here’s the solution, and racers already complaining on price and possible performance of a motor they havent run yet. You dont hear people complaining that their Prius isnt as fast as the Shelby mustang because it wasn’t meant to be rated in the same category. They both drive on the same streets but you get the picture......I hope.

Yet another way to deter them is to have them run against tuned motors with their cheap 21.5 motor.

well that’s their choice same as if they decide to race an old car , what’s next adding a rule that you must use a chassis from 1998?

we need more positive posts in this hobby..

I’ll start!
-I like USGT
-I like the 95g weight rule for bodies, let’s me paint a bit.
-I LOVE the idea of a spec motor.

First need to get someone interested passed the initial “price shock” of just the chassis. In the 2 years I tried, even as I showed them my low budget BT4. Or brought up the other “entry level” chassis. They saw the others guys cars and once heard $$ of an XRay kit, you could see their interest fading.

what is the implied handicap? The chassis weight? As a newbie, either way they are either new to the hobby or the class! As such they will more than likely be fine running an older car, and cheap motor, maybe passed down tires as well... they will be ok.

In other news, time to try this puppy out

bingo-that is the biggest obstacle to getting into rc racing. The start up costs are astronomical. Most that race USGT started with an older chassis they already owned along with all the other equipment they already have. The million dollar question is still how to get new blood into the hobby without spending a ridiculous amount of money on something they may not ultimately enjoy, but I digress.
i have enjoyed racing the spec 21.5 TC class. It had the closet RACING and the largest car count. I am looking forward to the spec motor in USGT. I think the racing will be closer than ever with better looking cars. Let TC be the open motor class to match the tc tires and high end chassis’s. I often have thought USGT would make more sense with spec motor and TC an open motor.

I think the new motor is just what USGT needs. USGT has been my favorite class. Sporty bodies, sticky tires, enough power to that slightly improper slide doesn't destroy your laptime... Motors mattered. This will make the motor not matter.

...... I don't want the cars lighter.
