I think a weight limit is in order, to ensure an equal racing condition to those that race the FWD class.

The upside to FWD in USGT is that one would hope that this would either increase participants eager to get there preexisting cars into the mix and have some fun! Even if they do not post the lap times, and have similar handling, it would make for some good racing ala' the 24hrs of Le Mans, when multiple classes are on the track at one time. I too am the mindset that they should run FWD bodies and not the current Open GT style bodies.

Be sweet to see some DTM , Open GT, and Fwd cars mixing it up!

I'd bet 20 that the same (good? Great? National champ) driver with 4wd 1380g vs fwd 1000g the 4wd wins

I concur with the Hefty one here, I don't think even a 1kg fwd stands a chance against a 4wd car at weight. A group at the last Champs thought they were onto something with a low weight fwd car for the canam usgt class and they quickly abandoned the idea because it was slow.

Corner exit is huge in USGT, and the FWD cars just don’t have it. This is magnified with Canam motors.

The reason there is no weight limit is that every time I have seen FWD run vs 4wd, the FWD gets destroyed. So the thought was maybe if there was an incentive like no weight limit someone might bring out the FWD cars.

There has been exactly ZERO interest until the recent ETS/Awesomatix dustup . There is no separate class, because outside of some Tamiya TCS races, no one races FWD. I'm also less than inclined to make rules for a class that it looks like several manufacturers want to go to war over and ruin before it starts. I don't think anyone would like my rules.

Also, don't expect any chassis layout rules from the USVTA/USGT. Play on, players.

i ran the MTS FF in USGT in tight tracks it got destroyed in a open flowing track it held up pretty well but the 4wd was still a few tenths faster

With the current trend, everyone is running Hyper Car bodies... which already is blurring the lines of “GT” class. Then you have the scale realism faction (which included yours truly) that already “cries murder most foul” at the relaxed / look alike bodies being permitted.

Now allow a FWD chassis with the Agatha body and you will make us all catatonic

lightweight FF car wants to use it I say let them

Raman 07-07-2019 06:49 PM

Just realised something.... the Hyper Car bodies won’t fit very well on the FF layout.. the layout is essentially same as the FF03/Ff04 shock tower and motor will not allow the front to drop down enough.

It would only work Awesomatix car with the MF layout

You're supposed to use the FWd bodies on FWD. Not that anyone will ever stop crying about everything.
