Was the Audis eventually banned from GTO and Trans Am or did Audi pull out because of too many restrictions on the car, intake, tires, etc.?

Andy's made a body of the Audi

I'd forgotten about the Andy's Audi. Thanks, Roy.

Whether they are legal or not, I never did like the look of Daytona Prototypes. To me, they look like auto racings equivalent to Japanese SD manga.

Since everyone is hating on the DP cars, I think I'll have to run this one.

If you have ever put the McAllister Corvette DP alongside the HPI Pagani, there isn't a great deal of difference. IMO, one of the great draws to this class is how open the body choices are. I still want to run a Parma garbage truck body, but might have to settle on a 61 Impala with a molded rear wing. I'm still looking for a 49 Mercury to run in USGT. Does anyone have one they'd sell me?

Hi Chris;

You might just see that, if everything goes well. We're currently looking into licensing with Audi. If they don't grant the licensing rights and approve the PF version of the body it won't happen. I'm trying to stay optimistic it will.Matter of fact, just minutes ago a won a bid on e-bay for an awesome Minichamps/Pauls's Model Art IMSA Audi 90. Perfect reference material for creating the pattern/mold.

Nutdriver put the idea in my head a few days ago. Turns out....he's not that nutty after all. LOL. I saw the Audi's race in 1988 and had kinda forgot how amazing they really were. Looking back now.....I've come to the personal conclusion that those factory Audi's were among the most amazing road race cars EVER!. Right up there with Jim Hall's Chaparrals and the Brabham F1 cars (in the 80's)

Dale Epp - Protoform

Love the wheelie pic. I think that was at Lime Rock Park.
Fingers crossed for the go-ahead from Audi. No reasonable person can deny the appropriateness of an AWD car classed in GTO as an appropriate USGT body. :-P~

Dale Epp I hope you get that licensing! It would be awesome! Next up - Aston Martin. No one makes a decent Aston Martin GT body and they've been involved in GT racing for 11 years!

I THINK I have a Proline/Protoform Aston Martin stashed away at home.

I still have a 1997 Protoform Opel Calibra DTM body that has 2 dots on the hood for body posts but I never mounted it. Its been sitting in a cardboard box, traveling with me from home to home for 19 years. Still have the M3 and |MG ZS too. The technically fit into the rules but seem contrary to the spirit, except for maybe the M3. I think I just found a PL Aston Vanquish 3155. Looks good but its in Singapore.
