how does it perform and how reliable is it?

Me and a couple of friends was/is running the 6.5T version and they are running really well! Too much power for us though.

Very smooth and exponential like throttlecurve and a really good feature is that you can internaly limit the power in 10% intervals wich seems to give a mouch better feel than limiting from the transmitter. My friends are running them at 70% power and it is plenty for 2WD buggy.

The only drawback we have found is that the Lipo cutoff doesn't seem to work.
Even set to its highest setting of 3.4v/cell it seams to run the battery way down.

actually, your assumsion is right. i was checking this hobbyking (hk) brand esc compre with turnigy. but i m not too confident of these brands.
any comments or do you know anyone have used it for on/off road?

The esc you reffering to is most likely the Feigoa 100amp unit that was also sold by SP but not for long.

hows customer service for hobbyking products?

i've heard someone waited 3months for his hobbywing esc after its burnt
was sent back to china for fix -_-. thats why i lost interest of hobbywing

That system is made by ZTW shenzhen china .max motor turn you can run is 5.5T and battery must be atleast over 25c for it to function properly or you will have start stop issues i know as i have tested this unit 1 year ago .
