Default Mamba 25 esc for VTA racing

At our track we use a Traxxas Stinger motor with 4 cell. My setup is a XXX-S. The only two esc's i have to run are a Novak XRS and a Mamba 25. I know the mamba 25 esc is for 1/18th scale but it doesnt seem like these cars use alot of power. The reason i'm against using the XRS in my xxx-s is because it overheats like crazy. It heats up about as fast as my motor on my drift setup Tamiya TB02. Would running the Mamba 25 be okay?

As far as I know, the Mamba 25 is only for Brushless motors.
